“Summer of Color” Arrives on Westside Beaches

You may have noticed the vibrant murals covering the lifeguard towers on Westside beaches. Welcome to the Summer of Color!

Over 100 lifeguard towers from San Pedro to Leo Carrillo have been transformed into works of art as part of the largest public art project in the U.S. — with the participation of 6,000 children and 2,500 adult volunteers.

The project was conceived by Portraits of Hope, a non-profit organization that combines major public art projects with creative therapy for physically and mentally disabled children. Read more.
