The Venice Spring Fling on Saturday featured an awesome day of free music. Breaking 27, a band comprised of 11-13 year-olds that was brought on as a last minute addition, stole the show with their enthusiasm. While not technically perfect, all in attendance agreed that “those kids rock!” Breaking 27 is headed up by musical director Mark “Muddy” Dutton, the bassist for LA Guns and the Chris Robinson Brotherhood.

Cycling fans will have an up-close look for three days this weekend when the Amgen Tour of California bike race winds through the mountains of Los Angeles County and finishes Sunday on the streets of Beverly Hills, Hollywood and downtown L.A. Library Alehouse in Santa Monica is helping to kick off a week of specialty craft brews and events all over town. They're bringing in the folks behind the popular Redlands brewery Hangar 24 to sample a bunch of their popular brews, including the Palmero from their Local Fields series, where they incorporate one ingredient from local producers to create brand new beers. There will also be plenty of food on hand to help wash down the regional brews.
