The unofficial grand opening for new bike corrals on Main Street was held last weekend outside of Peet’s Coffee at 2439 Main Street. A bike corral traditionally took up one car parking spot that was converted to park 10 to 14 bikes.

A hiker was airlifted from the Temescal Gateway Park area Monday afternoon after suffering from an unknown illness, says the Los Angeles Fire Department. The Equinox under construction in Marina del Rey has been delayed several times this year, but reps say the space will open to the public on the morning of April 16. In addition to EarthBar's signature bottled juice line, made-to-order juice bar, and smoothies and power shots, the new Marina del Rey location will also offer recommendations on juices to complement specific classes or workouts.
Venice Beach Lifeguard, Skateboard Inventor Larry Stevenson, Dies at 81

Larry Stevenson, a Venice Beach lifeguard who helped popularize skateboarding in the early 1960s by marketing his Makaha boards to riders eager to essentially surf on land, has died. He was 81. Makaha skateboards helped merge surfing and skateboard cultures. Stevenson also publicized the activity as publisher of Surf Guide magazine.
