We just learned that the Free Broadband project we submitted to Pepsi Refresh has been accepted for public voting during the month of May… and we need your help!
Our proposal is for a $250,000 grant from Pepsi to bring free broadband Internet service to numerous residential, commercial and school locations on the Westside of Los Angeles, including under-served low income housing areas.
Anyone who lives in the US aged 13+ can vote for Free Broadband once per day through the end of May at refresheverything.com/freebroadband.
For more information about the Free Broadband project visit openneighborhoods.net/freebroadband.
Vote every day in May and help us spread the word so that Westside neighborhoods can benefit from this incredible opportunity to have free wireless broadband Internet service. Join us on Facebook and follow FreeBroadband on Twitter. Read about how under-served communities in Los Angeles can benefit from Free Broadband.
We are proud to participate as a member organization of InternetForEveryone.org, a national initiative to bring the benefits of a fast, affordable and open Internet connection to everyone in America.
“We applaud local communities who are stepping up and getting involved in expanding wireless broadband services to their neighbors,” said Misty Perez Truedson, InternetForEveryone.org program manager at Free Press. “Los Angeles will benefit greatly from this project, and more of its community members will have much-needed access to the Internet.”
Free Press is a national, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization working to promote diverse and independent media ownership, strong public media, quality journalism, and universal access to communications.
