Nigama, a local artist, is seeking donations to maintain the Ballona Creek Trioliths, an art installation of hundreds of stacked rocks. The project started in May 2010, and Nigama hopes to film a documentary to capture the the 3-stone figures that have "transformed an unremarkable urban creekside into a magical landscape," according to Nigama. He is hoping to raise $14,000 by April 23.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa signed an ordinance giving the Department of Water and Power authority to sign contracts to purchase solar power from local providers to supply electricity to the rest of the city. The department plans to sign up to 20-year contracts with a mix of residential and commercial solar power providers as part of a pilot project that will generate 10 megawatts of electricity.
