Mar Vista neighbors James Brennan and John Ayers will be on hand on Sunday, September 11th to present information about the Los Angeles County Solar Challenge – offering up to $40,000 to school booster clubs, religious institutions and other non-profit organizations in LA County who help their communities switch to clean energy from the Sun.

Come by the MVCC Green Tent at the Mar Vista Farmers Market on Sunday July 31st to meet Chelsea and Rob McFarland - the founders of HoneyLove and members of Backwards Beekeepers. HoneyLove's mission is to protect the honeybees and inspire and educate new urban beekeepers. They are working to urge the City of Los Angeles to approve a pilot project for urban beekeeping in Mar Vista.

The Mar Vista Community Council on Wednesday passed a resolution calling for a city-wide ban on plastic bags, identical to the Los Angeles County ban passed by the Board of Supervisors on November 16th.

Mar Vista to Partner with EPA on Clean Energy

The Mar Vista Community Council voted this week to partner with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and become an EPA Green Power Community.
