A small plane has crashed into the back of a home just west of Santa Monica Airport. The crash was reported around 2:45 p.m. Monday near 21st Street and Navy. Aerial footage showed the mangled wreckage of the plane but there was no fire. The pilot apparently suffered only minor injuries. The cause of the crash was not immediately known.

The City of Santa Monica suffered a major setback in its efforts to improve safety and reduce noise and air pollution with a ban on the worst offending jets at Santa Monica Airport. According to Santa Monica Patch, the FAA was delighted to learn that the City's effort to ban large jets was rejected by a federal appeals court.
