Coronavirus outbreak: Trump says some U.S. states to start reopening as early as Monday| FULL thumbnail

U.S. President Donald Trump and members of the U.S. coronavirus task force provided a daily briefing Saturday on the administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The president said that Texas and Vermont will begin allowing certain businesses to reopen on Monday while the state of Montana would be begin its easing of lockdown restrictions starting Friday. Ohio, North Dakota and Idaho will begin a phased, non-essential reopening beginning on May 1.

Trump detailed how the paycheck protection program has allocated US$350 billion to 1.6 million small businesses across the country to keep employees paid and businesses open.

When asked about China and their role with the virus, Trump said that if they “knowingly” were responsible for the outbreak, then there should be “consequences.”
