Ethereum’s `Merge’ Upgrade Is Complete

Blockchain network Ethereum has completed its long-awaited software upgrade, according to co-founder Vitalik Buterin. The Merge replaced the power-hungry computers used to order transactions on Ethereum’s network. It was replaced by a more efficient setup that uses piles of Ether, the network’s native token. These wallets are called staking wallets. Ethereum’s energy consumption is expected to drop by 99%. James Butterfill, Coinshares’ head of research, discusses the effects of the changes on “Bloomberg Surveillance Early Edition”.
