The US congressional committee investigating last year’s Capitol riot have issued a formal command demanding Donald Trump provides a testimony under oath over his role in the events on January 6.
The panel of nine members sent a letter to Trump’s lawyers requesting his testimony by November 14. It also requested a series of documents. This included personal communications between Trump and Congressmen as well as information about extremist groups.
“We recognize that a subpoena for a former president [is] a significant, historic action,” Chairman Bennie Thompson wrote and Vice Chair Liz Cheney addressed a letter to Trump.
