Partygate: UK PM and chancellor apologise for breaking law in lockdown - BBC News thumbnail

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been fined by the police for attending a birthday party thrown for him during a Covid lockdown.

Prime Minister confirmed that he had paid the penalty notice for attending the hour-long meeting in the Cabinet Room on 19

The PM’s wife and Chancellor Rishi Sunak were also fined. They confirmed that they had paid.

They all apologised to Mr Johnson and Mr Sunak for their attendance, but neither offered to resign.
