The United States has confirmed a decision to expel 12 diplomats attached to the Russian Mission in New York, accusing them of engaging in espionage activities.
Russia’s Envoy protested at a meeting the United Nations Security Council, which was looking into the humanitarian situation that has developed as a consequence of Russia’s conflict in Ukraine.
Ambassador Vasily Nebenzia charged the United States with violating the U.N. Headquarters which governs its hosting of the United Nations as well as the diplomats of member countries.
The decision comes as the U.N. General Assembly continues a Emergency Special Session on Russia’s conflict with Ukraine with a draft resolution expected to be put to a vote in the 193-member Assembly by tomorrow.
