Ukrainian president Zelenskyy delivers address to US Congress | DW News
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to address the US Congress on Wednesday by video stream, the second such address in the past month.
In the wake of Zelenskyy’s speech, Joe Biden, US President, is expected to announce an additional $800million (EUR 729million) in security assistance for Ukraine.
According to a White House official, this would bring the total amount announced in the past week to $1 billion (EUR millions).
Zelenskyy informed European leaders in London that he realizes NATO does not intend to accept Ukraine. However, he urged the alliance to maintain a no fly zone over the country.
Zelenskyy stated in Wednesday’s video address that Russia’s demands are becoming “more realistic” following Tuesday cease-fire negotiations between the two countries. Both sides are expected back together on Wednesday.
